We believe that any vote affecting the direct taxation of Harrison AR residents should only take place with other issues on the ballot. A recent continuation of 1/2 and 1/4 cent sales tax extensions was passed by much less than 10% of registered voters. We believe this was due to the vote being held alone through a "special election" with little notice and NO other issues on the ballot. We believe this was a conscious decision made by the local government to enable the continuation of increasingly unpopular taxation. The local media supports these taxes 100%. For this reason there was little debate leading up the "special election." By stipulating that these votes be held only with others we can assure a more fair representation of Harrison taxpayers.
