This is an online petition to the Woodlands Corporation and City of Conroe to make Harpers Landing a quiet zone from the passing train whistles. Our neighboring cities such Houston and Sugarland made residential areas adjacent to the railroads into quiet zones by simply following FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) guidelines.  It’s a shame on The Woodlands Corporation that claims to develop environment friendly, greener and master planned communities for not making significant effort in making Harpers Landing a quiet zone. It has been more than 10 years that Harpers Landing development came into existence. Residents still have to bear the blaring training whistles day and night. The time is right for us to unite and work towards making the Harpers Landing a Quiet Zone by petitioning and pressing the Woodlands Corporation and the City of Conroe.

Updates

April 23, 2010

I have been reviewing the feedback left by residents who deal with the train noise every night. These experiences demonstrate that the current situation is unsustainable for our community. I am currently reaching out to local officials to establish a formal dialogue regarding these railroad regulations.

April 23, 2010

The momentum behind our request for a quiet zone has grown significantly in recent weeks. Your dedication to this cause demonstrates that the residents of Harpers Landing will no longer accept the status quo regarding noise pollution.

The noise is seriously getting out of hand. Wakes me up every single night at 3am. Enough is enough.
