These monster buildings are ruining our neighborhood. Please spread the word and ask your neighbors to sign this petition.

There is no way this area can handle this level of increased density and maintain the same quality of life and safety as exists now.
As well, just what is the value of any agreement made by developers, the city, or whomever when they are so casually traded out.

Too many enormous buildings on a single block!!! This development is going to cripple the surrounding buildings and residents already invested in the area for renters who aren't contributing members of the committed community!

Am aghast by this recent development. And hurt that a decision that affects so many was taken in such haste.

issues:
1./ commingling of city planning with outstanding law suits should be prohibited by law.
2./Entering into back room negotiations and agreements without consideration for public outreach and input is highly unethical if not criminal
3./Additional commitments for building without adequate, roads, transportation and sewerage should negate any planning agreements.

The west side should not be the prize for no further development on the river. Enough already with monster buildings on the west side. A building on the 800 Monroe lot is fine if it is the same height as the surrounding buildings. No more than 5-6 stories tall and don't block the light others have in their common areas.

Another massive development in an area already full of high density rental buildings will be detrimental to the quality of life of existing residents!

I do not agree with all that this petition states.
However, I do agree that--intended or not--Barry family thru their shell corporations are being rewarded whereas they should be getting punished. They got the Shipyard with a promise to the City and its residents which they have not fulfilled. How do they justify that? It's infuriating!
I am vehemently against Monarch. I understand the City doesn't want to continue paying legal fees to battle Monarch. Yet, the concession does indeed feel like the high-value waterfront property owners won at the cost of the West side property owners.
I was delighted and excited when I received notice this weekend that Monarch had been settled. However, the notice left a lot to be explained. I knew it couldn't be as good as it seemed. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And makes me curious how the Barrys got away with walking away from the original PUD.

The project should have been discussed openly with the community before any agreement was going to be made.

This building is too big for our neighborhood and would create excess traffic that we do not need. It would create more congestion on an already congested street thus making it unsafe for our neighborhood not too mention it is in a flood zone that has not yet been resolved.

The 800 Monroe deal is Outrageous. I wonder what the deal is for our mayor and whether a future investigation will reveal in whose back pocket she can be found

As a Hoboken resident for 9 years and a home owner for 7, this is incredibly frustrating. To me, it seems that the City is sending a clear message--first, that it values the waterfront and its residents more than those of us in western Hoboken; and second, that protecting the quality of life for property owners is less important that adding new renters. This is disheartening and disappointing, and makes me rethink trying to make Hoboken my long-term home.
