The Vale of Glamorgan's already has strong links with Bridgend and I think it would be better to continue to keep them rather than merge with Cardiff.

after an extended period of significant annimocity towards the Vale, Cardiff would rub their hands and laugh then carry on as before.

The vale I well run and puts the people of the vale first not second to bankrupt Cardiff

Due to the difference in size between the two authorities this would be a take over rather than a merger. I am not convinced that this would result in savings but I am sure the residents in the Vale would suffer with poorer services.

This would be the worse move ever - Cardiff Council cannot run its own departments - The Vale of Glamorgan Council is more in touch with all the people in its domain and listens to people unlike Cardiff. Just take for example refuse collection Vale of Glamorgan does a far better job than Cardiff. Recycling is a much easier and friendly task with less bins as Cardiff. PLEASE PLEASE REJECT THIS IDEA

I have lived in Penarth for the past fifteen years. One of the factors that attracted me to the town was its postion in an autonomous semi-rural authority with its own unique character. If the Vale has to be merged with another neighbouring authority, Bridgend would share more of its character. Merging with Cardiff has been tried before, in the old South Glamorgan authority, and was shown then to not be in the best interests of this beautiful part of South Wales. There can surely be no justification for repeating that failed experiment and allowing the Vale to be subsumed into Greater Cardiff.

Under S Glamorgan the Vale was always neglected. All services have improved significantly as the Vale of Glamorgan, which I want to continue

Bigger is not better nor cheaper. We need to see how 'savings' are calculated and benefits to both councils assessed.

Decisions should be taken as locally as possible, as a Cardiff resident i can see that the Vale would come off worse in any merger.
