I've experienced only positive treatment at the VA. It works quite well and the people care and serve us well.

I am a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. I have fought the VA for last 45 years for proper medical, dental, optical and other benefits. I understand the VA's weird thinking and know that rules and regulations are quite often, bent, broken or just ignored depending on the individual, or facility. That said, I and millions of Veterans that have served were promised that the GOVERNMENT would provide the services NOT private businesses that want to make money off of us. Congress is trying to undo what the VA was allowed to do in mistreatment and even ignoring pstients. The VA needs housecleaning not removal of services to a private entity. At least this way, things are finally getting done. I would hate to see the VA become another agency prone to fraud the way Medicare is.

The VA does not need to be turned into another cash cow for the medical pharmaceutical and insurance companies. We need to keep the VA and make it live up to its name an organization to serve and care for the men and women who have put their lives online for this nation.
