The hospital is officially off the list for closures. I spent so many nights worrying about my elderly neighbors who rely on this place but today we finally have some peace of mind. Thank you for staying with me through this fight.

With an ever growing population in and around Newquay we NEED our local hospital we therefore need YOU! Please show your support opposing these cuts by signing the petition below.
With new houses being built and news today that the fastest growing airport in the Country is our very own Newquay, with more people coming into the town we face the sad news that Newquay hospital is under threat of closure through cuts by the Government!
We demand that:
1. Cornwall Council votes against the cuts proposed in the Sustainability and Transformation Plan.
2. The Government immediately provides adequate funding to meet the health and social care needs of the people of Cornwall.
Each year we have thousands of visitors to our town including families, festival goers, hen and stag parties. Each year many of them pass through our Minor Injuries Unit. This is without even including those of us lucky enough to live here.
We have an excellent Outpatients Department which is very much needed to cope with the overspill from the RCH clinics at Treliske. It is far more easily accessible and user friendly for the older folk of not just Newquay but also the surrounding areas.
Our main hospital in Truro is ALWAYS on one alert or another, complaining of the smaller community hospitals 'bed-blocking'
The bed blocking isn't due to the small community hospitals not letting patients go home it is more to do with lack of packages of care in the community for those who NEED to go home.
By closing the smaller hospitals INCLUDING, the Outpatients Department, Minor Injuries, wards, AND the Physio and OT Departments together with various other clinics held there doesn't mean that more people can be inpatients in the larger hospitals (there won’t be any extra beds) it will possibly mean that those NEEDING to be in hospital, treated or have follow up appointments won't get the chance!

I spent the morning at the unit and watched firsthand how many people rely on these services for basic care. The staff are clearly exhausted by the uncertainty weighing on them while they try to do their jobs. My next step is to deliver these pages directly to the council office to demand they look us in the eye.

My own family relies on those beds and I refuse to watch our hospital vanish into thin air. We are nearing the one thousand mark and I need you to pass this link to one person who cares about Newquay.

As a nurse from treliske I implore you to keep this hospital! Many of our onward care patients go here and if it were.to close there would be even more "bed blocking" in treliske! This would have catastrophic repercussions for our services in Cornwall!
Ridiculous to even consider this when the town is expanding faster than ever with around 15000 more residents and around 100000 tourists each summer, also would boardmasters have to be cancelled due to lack of First aid available in the town?
We need this hospital Trelisk is struggling and is over a 20 minute drive. People will suffer maybe die as a result of this hospital closure. I have a 2 year old Grandson with asthma it's scary to think we would have to get him to Trelisk, to get help.
We need a hospital in Newquay, it houses the out of hours doctors and we have also used it when my children have had accidents. It is very important to the residents of Newquay, especially during the holiday season when there is a huge influx of people!
It is in the best interests of the general public and health professionals to keep Newquay hospital. To help to alleviate bed blocking at acute hospitals. To provide local clinics and to prevent minor injury cases from blocking A& E departments.
No more CUTS. Newquay Hospital is vital.
This Hospital is a need not a luxury for our growing town.

I am treated at Newquay hospital for my Diabetes and other health issues as well. I was also transferred to Newquay hospital from Truro hospital after breaking my hip and the staff were so caring I can never thank them enough.Its important to keep them open
