I know the person claiming Keith is lying about his credentials and raising cane over a handgun range that'll be used twice per month. What the hell do you thinks gonna happen if it gets denied? Nothing! It's still going to end in gunfire. I promise you, I know Keith well, he will re-enact WW2 out there the very next day starting at 4am, and there wont be a damn thing anyone can do about it. Yall anti-gun folks need to use your heads. This will make our community a lot safer. Hell, even the damn local college asked him to teach his courses at their campus!!! A state run college!!! If that aint enough to tell ya we need more training, then you have a mental problem. The neighbors are mad because a private business is going to be using it from time to time, and think their lives are in danger.

110% approve! As an attorney, I would be more than happy to represent this young man in this endeavor. No reason this should not be approved. With consideration to the adjacent property owners signing in approval, I see no reason why the county government shouldn't move forward. By state law, no county government can regulate when a homeowndr/land owner can use his/her property. As for the cemetery, if that is such a problem, why do we honor our fallen veterans with 21 "GUN" salutes? I approve and would represent free of charge!

Absolutely needed here. Its funny how they county will approve one in Cross Plains thats closer to a school and house than this place, used much more, but have a problem with yours. I know the neighbor that showed up to yalls meeting. His property dont even touch yours. They can complain all they want. Id use it for a range regardless if they approve it for teaching or not. What a bunch of morons.

I've done a lot of research on this over the past several days, and after being involved with out state legislation, I have gathered that it would in fact be unconstitutional and in violation of several state/federal laws to NOT allow them to use their property for a range. Regardless of ownership, as long as range owner has permission to use property for said venture, no party, including the state, can disrupt commerce for local business, unless they are in violation of any state/local ordinances. With this location not being located within a city limit, and with the county only having setbacks/specs for how the range is to be built, the local government CANNOT restrict use of private property if it is within zoning requirements. A special exception permit does not require rezoning and this emdeavor does not constitute rezoning either. Sure hope the county and people opposing this are aware of their laws. This could turn into a huge battle, especially if the media gets involved.

Sounds like one hell of an idea to me. I'd build it 10 lanes wide and re-inact WW2 every Saturday at 0400 sharp if it aint approved. We'll see if we cant get some of our church members on board bud. Don't give up, you'll get it approved.

This would be the BEST thing to happen to the north side of the county. I'd rather see this go in than 100 houses. Keith is a great guy and wont stop until he gets what he wants. I've hunted with Keith many times and would trust him with any firearm known to man. Probably one of the best shooters in the county. If he dont get it approved, I may put one on my property. Great idea and I support completely.

This county has gone anti-gun and it started with the local government. Of the neighbor's are 2A supporters, and I assume they have a carry permit, surely they would understand that a range is required for a firearms school to be a business. Common sense would tell me that if the state required him to have a range for his students to qualify, how else could he make it happen? Not everyone has millions of dollars laying around to build an indoor range. I approve of this for all reasons including; small business support, safety for gun owners, and freedom to do whatever the hell he wants with his property. I'll be out there with him shooting too if this don't get passed. People need to mind their business and get over themselves. Might be time for some county government change too. I'd say start a petition and get legal involved against county and any opposing neighbors if it fails. Absolutely unconstitutional!

I've know Keith for years. He is hands down the most sensible, logical, and safest man I know. This would be worth it's weight in gold. I support this endeavor to the fullest extent. It's a shame neighbors want to tell people what to do with their property. Go for it bud!

As for the comment of the board member asking about our other property. He said, "I am going to have to withold my vote being this is in my neighborhood." Which means whatever way he voted, it would be a bias vote. He never said he was against it, only that he could not vote due to living nearby. A commercial range is a range open to the public that can pay a fee and use at their leisure. This is not open to the public as my students pay me for classroom time and range is free because its a state requirement for the ECP. Like I said, we will be shooting out there either way. By being state certified, im required to have a backstop, fence, and limited to people and caliber used. Without it, I can use it as I please and give anyone permission to use it too. It would be in the neighbor's best intrest to approve it for limited use and abide by state guidelines, than us use it everday.

Per county tax assessors office, they reported no adverse impact on property value for limited use permitted range that meets state specs. Secondly, it will be used for a privately owned business, and not open to the public. In lamens terms, you wont be able to pay $10 and shoot all you want because It will be limited to me and my business. Whether or not it is approved, this will still be used as our new gun range. If it gets approved, we will have to abide by the county/staye regulations. Without it approved, we can shoot ANY firearm, at ANYTIME, ANYDAY, and invite as many people as we want. Would you rather have me limited to 2 days per month with 5 students each, or 2 days a week with no limitations on caliber, people, or safe shooting practices? As it is now, I dont have to have a backstop. It would be in the neighbor's favor to have it approved, as it would be safer. Ragardless, we will be shooting out their either twice a month with strict limitations, or twice a week with whatever we can throw down range. Its our property and non of your business what we do with it. BTW, I've got backing with out State Representative and a phone meeting with out Lt. Govenor. Our county commissioner also approves. Or we could subdivide it to whatever builder can put the most houses on it. Remember, It's our property and could care less of your opinions on how we use our land.

By definition this would be a commercial range, not a private range. "This range will have no impact on the neighboring properties." Really? Go see the top features which lower property values to see that this claim is rubbish. Ever wonder why people live in the country? To have peace, quiet, safety, and privacy. You can scratch off the first two with a range next to your house. Done properly, sure, a range can be quite safe, but suppose you're in the market to buy a house and you have young children, will you buy a house within a stone's throw from a range? Most people in this area are staunch defenders of the right to bear arms and to use their own property as they see fit, but this is a transgression on those who have lived here long before this was even a remote idea in Keith's head. The county zoning commissioner said it best when Keith said that he had other properties on which this range could be built: "That [other property] is near my house. I don't want it near me!"
