There is one house between ours and the Hamm property, and we moved here for the neighborhood elementary *and* middle schools. If the district needs to rebalance school enrollment, they can encourage more students from out of the boundaries to apply for enrollment at Williamsburg by offering incentives like an immersion program -- rather than by harming the students who would be forced to lose sleep to ride the bus 3 miles when, without the proposed realignment, they could just walk across the street.

We have five children in APS and live a few blocks from Hamm. This school was built to be a neighborhood school and changing boundaries to realign enrollment in other far off schools in the county is bad policy.

My son greatly benefited from being a walker at DHMS. Having a large percentage of students walking to a school creates a much stronger school community. His bond to the DHMS was significantly deeper than his older sisters' bond to WMS (where they had been bussed). Don't ruin a special school environment - keep Arlington schools walkable to as many students as possible!

We are a sub 4 min walk to Hamm's front door. Please let us stay in the Hamm district!
