Expansion and Modernization of the Hamilton Township Animal Shelter

We, the undersigned residents of Hamilton Township, New Jersey, request an expansion and modernization of the Hamilton Township Animal Shelter. Our current shelter was built more than 30 years ago, before the construction boom of the 1980\'s and 1990\'s. There are now almost 100,000 residents in our township and the shelter has remained able to house only 20 dogs, and 21 cats or other small animals. Due to overcrowding, our healthy animals are being put to sleep to make room for other stray animals that are being brought in on almost a daily basis. We need a larger and more modern facility that is more animal- and people- friendly. This will not only save lives, but will encourage more of our residents to visit the shelter as potential adopters. More space will allow more time, and the rates of animals being put to sleep could be greatly reduced. The animals who find themselves at our shelter will be housed in a safer and more comfortable place until they can be adopted.
