August 28, 2008 Hamid\'s Circumstances: Hamid Shemshad\'s brother was executed by the Islamic regime of Iran in 1988. Hamid came to Canada over 7 years ago, his application seeking political asylum status was denied in 2005, he continued working hard, \"illegally\" under very much pressure and fear to survive. Unfortunately he was arrested last Saturday and due to be sent back to Iran on Sept 7, 2008. His fiance and friends are trying very hard to re-open his file and they are seeking your support. Hamid is an outstanding individual, hardworking, polite and law abiding just like any of us. The situation is clearly unacceptable and should not happen in a country that prides itself on it\'s freedom of speech and of opinion. The change is possible and we have to stick together and stop deportation before it is late. Let it be a starting point to stop deportations. In order to create a change as to "Hamid" please sign this petition and pass it around. _________________________________________________ Petition against forced deportation of Hamid Shemshad I/We, the undersigned, hereby petition the Minister for Citizenship and Immigration regarding the case of Mr Hamid Shemshad, who lived in Canada under great fear and anxiety for 7 years and is now in Immigration detention. Next Sunday, September 7, 2008 he may find himself on a plane back to his home country, Iran, where he fears for his life the most. We therefore respectfully request the Minister to arrange for the prompt issue, on humanitarian and compassionate grounds, of the necessary instructions and documents for Mr Hamid Shemshad to be granted Permanent Resident Status in Canada.
