Halting Washington IL Amphitheater Project

This sounds like what Blickenstaff did with Sandkoty Lakes, Scottish Rite and properties in Peoria Heights. Promise the world, then bail and leave the city on the hook.

I live in Sunnydale Estates. I moved here because it is quiet, among other things. Sound is my biggest fear, along with how much taxpayers are going to have to pay, for something that we do not want.

If the people of this town are what really matters to the city council, then delaying this decision should not be a problem. I personally do not think this will be a long term successful endeavor. A green space with walking trails, an outdoor stage (like Idlewood park in Morton) to have city events at would be enough. The donor seems generous, but if people don’t want it and it will affect neighborhoods close by and raise our taxes, is it really considered generous or just self serving?

It's ridiculous! We live in Washington!

Although appreciate the generous donation for the amphitheater, it does not cover the entirety leaving a heavy financial burden on the city/taxpayers. Currently located 2.3 miles from Washington High School and can clearly hear the band practicing during summer and Friday night lights. The proposed location would be closer, leaving me to belive my relaxing nights outside would soon be paired with whatever "has been" group is playing. I feel that there are numerous ways to honor Dee, wing of an addition to our growing school campuses, pool updates, park updates, scholarships in her name just to name would greatly benefit the community without offsetting finacial burden onto taxpayer nor increasing noise issues to those close.

Stop shoving this down our throats

Totally against an amphitheater. Taxes will skyrocket, nearby upscale subdivision will be inundated by sound that will vibrate their homes, traffic - if much - will be detrimental. The city should take a vote on what the people want. In my humble opinion, the city will NOT benefit from this so called project. The City of Washington is not being transparent on many areas of this.

What's the hurry? Do the due diligence. Then decide.

I am a Washington resident of 21 years. More clear information is needed on this project. I am looking for transparency and to have the next elected officials guide this decision.

I am not willing to support this if my taxes will be used to pay for the infrastructure to make this amphitheater usable. If the donor of the facility also wants to pay for road, sewer, water, power poles, electric lines, lights, paving, noise reducing, etc. then I might support it. But not if my taxes are going to increase to support this “gift”.

I live os Westminster Dr worried about the noise and the traffic coming into the area.

So much more information needs to be examined. Please put a hole on the so that can be done. It's owed to the people of Washington.
