Dear Friends, We the undersigned are writing to request a halt to the deportation of Ms.Hanifa Nakimera from Canada. Ms.Nakimera entered Canada in 2006 and applied for asylum but, unfortunately she was not granted a protected person status despite her record of injustices inflicted against her in her country of origin -Uganda. For three years, Ms.Nakimera worked for Pearls Staffing Agency as a Care-giver with Salvation Army in Toronto. She exhibited tact, diligence, passion and commitment while performing her duties and abided by the Canadian rule of law. Despite the back and forth immigration impasse that Ms.Nakimera has been faced with for all these years because of domestic violence against her for a number of years, it didnt swerve with her work and her voluntarism. She contributed immensely to the community through her voluntary work for several years with different community agencies like Pamoja Initiative, Uganda Martyrs Church of Canada (UMCC), Africans in Partnership Against AIDS (APAA), and LOFT Community Services-McEwan Housing & Support Services. Ms. Nakimera has a 1 year old Canadian daughter, Jeremaya J.A, and based on the physical abuse inflicted against her from her country of origin, it makes it unsafe for her if she is deported because te perpetrator is still determined to violate her basic human right. We urge the Prime Minister, Stephen Harper and Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Mr. Jason Kenny to exercise their discretion and take action to prevent this deportation. Let Ms.Nakimera begin the next chapter of her life amongst her relatives, friends and supporters, and we hope she can be able to benefit from Canada's Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds in dealing with her immigration issues. Please sign this petition with your name and community group/organisation. Halt Deportation of Hanifa Nakimera Steering Committee

Ridiculous. She works hard and gives back to the city. We need people like her in Toronto not kicking them out.

LET HER STAY! She is a mother and a hard worker who contributes to our society. Its cruel to separate a mother from her child.

She has done so much for this community. It makes no sense to send her back to a dangerous situation when she has a baby here. Please reconsider.
