People with IBS and Celiac would also benefit from labeling. Halal (permissible) meat also has to killed humanely. Animals should not see other animals being killed nor should one sharpen a knife in front of the animal. This in stark contrast to concentrated animal farming operations (CAFOs) which provide most meat consumed in the U.S.

it is not like eating halal food is a food fad that will be here today and gone tomorrow. I am pretty sure that some people will desire halal food for as long as SIUe is a place

We, at SIUE, really need more vegetarian options, and literacy among the dining staff about cross-contamination issues. Adequate labeling is a must and it would be wonderful if we had a halal meat option as well.
