Hair Rules
At Caterham School, we believe that pupils of all years should be able to wear their hair as they feel most comfortable. First of all, we believe that the school should be a comfortable environment and this rule seems unnecessary to our learning which should be the main priority.
We feel that the school cares more about our physical appearance than our wellbeing. Enforcing this rule brings up insecurities and brings down students' confidence.
The school portrays formality by enforcing uniform and by allowing pupils to wear their hair how they would prefer is a way in which they can express themselves. Having girls' hair tied up can be a hindrance to our education rather than a benefit.
We understand and accept that during science and sport we are required to have our hair tied up for safety and we will still comply to those rules. However during other lessons, this rule distracts us and makes us focus on our appearance rather than our work.
Sign this petition to change a seemingly unnecessary rule.
