We are in Tweed. We are overwhelmed with the catippillars and their destruction. We can’t even sit outside, their poop has ruined our patio furniture

For months, I scraped Gypsy Moth eggs, wrapped trees with Tangle Foot & sprayed BTK. Despite all my efforts, thousands of caterpillars have covered our home and surrounding trees making our outdoor living space intolerable. Even my raspberry bushes were devoured. The caterpillars have stripped our many birch and white pine and we anticipate a great loss of trees and cost for removal. In desperation, we paid several hundred dollars this week to hire someone to professionally spray as much as we could afford. We are living a nightmare. Who should be taking responsibility for protecting Quinte West’s trees? When the trees are gone... it will be too late for action.

It is finally summer and we can’t even enjoy being outside. Our pool is full of caterpillars and they have eaten our vegetable garden. We need support to take care of this. Give us our property back so we can enjoy the outdoors….

The Caterpillars are everywhere! On all of our trees, climbing on our house, in our pool, on the deck, in flower pots and gardens.

Why is Quinte West not taking action to deal with gypsy moth infestation. We are inundated with the caterpillars all through our trees and all over the house.

As if covid-19 has taken a toll on already, now that it is warm weather we can’t even enjoy the outdoors in Wooler Ontario. Something needs to be done! Save our trees and our sanity.

Absolutely pathetic how the city of Quinte West ignored the citizens calls for help last summer when the infestation first began and residents asked for help at that time. This was not a surprise to the city officials or councillors as they took residents concerns well ahead of this spring and voted AGAINST providing any help or relief to us residents in their April 2021 council meeting. They should be ashamed to call themselves professionals or claim they have sympathy now. They dropped the ball big time!!!

Ridiculous! Bad enough that I am unable to leave my property freely since 2020, now I am uncomfortable stepping outside my house as they are hanging from my trees like ornaments! There is no reason why plant life>wild life>people need to suffer.. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!

So sad to see the beautiful trees in our communities stripped of their leaves for this summer. I support an aerial spraying plan to control these pests in future.

They are decimating the trees on our property. Its inexcusable the province won't take action to save trees.

Why are & have we waited so long in dealing with these worms being unhealthy to humans and trees?

After cutting the lawn around trees I developed the itchy rash in spots that the caterpillars had landed on. They need to be controlled.

I live near an elderl6 woman who had to be taken to hospital because of these pest. We need to take better care when transport anything from another country. This carelessness has to stop.Government s need to help with cost of removal of invasive species.

Godfrey, ON - everywhere you look you can see thousands. I'm sure the MNR for such things...... It seems their budget just keeps getting cut more and more. Why don't our lakes get stocked with more fish? Because they don't have the funding to do so. Fight the power ⬆️⬆️
