The opinion of these Grand Valley students, staff, and faculty members support the decision to replace Rick Snyder as the 2013 Graduation Commencement speaker on April 27. It is intended for the speaker to inspire graduates through their personal achievements, but these petitioners agree that Governor Snyder’s actions and decisions in office are not inspirational. Furthermore, these petitioners believe that Governor Snyder’s policies that support education cuts and nullify Voter’s decisions are harmful to the Student body and threaten Democracy. Consequently, these signees wish to replace Rick Snyder as the 2013 Graduation Commencement speaker with an inspirational speaker who supports and represents the academic and democratic institutions in Michigan. We the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to replace Rick Snyder as the 2013 Grand Valley Graduation Commencement speaker.
