Allow John H. Guyer Students to exercise first amendment rights in support of reforming gun laws

The walkout is important for all of us students, parents, and teachers and yes while there will be some people at my school and others who are only signing this as a free 3 day weekend but the wide majority of us want our voices heard and what to feel safe in or schools. If we can not then you as an adult and lawmaker have failed in protecting the students of your very schools.

These students embody our wishes for all Americans to be involved in the democratic process. Their actions should be encouraged rather than punished.

These students have every right to protest as provided by the 1st amendment. Shame to any school district which punishes them.

Great job - we stand with you!

This event could be the most educational moment if their high school experience. The pint of education is to have citizens who are educated well enough to run and sustainable successful democracy. Real life experiences is a more powerful teacher than a textbook. Let them engage in this process peacefully and professionally, without punishment. Karen Pardonner, M.Ed.

Manifesting peacefully our convictions is a basic right. The reasons for marching in this case are vital. This is a good cause. It is inspiring and it gives us hope.

Does anyone know when the deadline is for the students to obtain the 1,000 signatures? Also, does anyone know if the Walk Out will still occur (without punishment) if the students do not obtain the 1,000 signatures.

Yes Richard, but school isn't a job. Do you know how unsafe school is right now? So I will do it on your tax dollars so that one day my kids can do it on mine. And if I'm gonna be forced to go to school by the law, I'm going to be safe doing it.
