Gumtrees rules about registered breeders is prone to abuse. A registered breeder should mean a breeder of pedigreed dogs or cats selling either adult or pups with pedigreed papers. Many advertisers who have normal council registrations are using the registered breeder option in order to list their animals ( dogs or cats ) at a higher price to get around Gumtree's pricing rules. As stated this is prone to abuse and also confuses purchasers who think they are getting a registered pet. Some advertisers give photocopied papers or made up paperwork to the buyer and its when a buyer tries to register their pup with a Canine or Feline Association that they discover their dog or cat isnt actually a pedigreed animal. We are asking for signatures to make Gumtree change their current policy so this system is no longer open to abuse
