The Deepwater Horizon disaster made it apparent that there are very high risks associated with deep sea drilling operations. Preventative measures must be improved and disaster response protocol must be changed so that we can avoid catastrophes like this in the future.
We strongly urge you to:
- Substantially improve the Mineral Management Service review process and their minimum safety standards for deep water drilling permits
- Place BP under severe probation for all American drilling operations
- Dismiss BP from the Gulf of Mexico and lease their existing contracts to American companies
- Prohibit offending oil company involvement with front-line cleanup efforts to eliminate conflicts of interests
- Thoroughly review dispersant toxicity and its long-term effects on marine life
- Establish an infrastructure that allows for the use of a volunteer force in future cleanup efforts

The gulf is still dying. We cant keep letting these corporations treat our ocean like a trash can.
Stop the drilling now. My grandkids deserve to see a clean beach.
Ridiculous that they are still allowed to call the shots on the cleanup. That is a massive conflict of interest.
NEVER AGAIN!! My family lives in Florida and we saw first hand how they messed up the coast. Enough is enough.
kick them out. they dont deserve to operate here after what they done to the water and the fishing industry.

BP needs to pay for every single bit of damage. They got off way to easy while everyone else lost their jobs.
