Bring a Multipurpose Synthetic Turf Field to Guilderland High School

I am a recent Guilderland graduate and was a two sport athlete (Lacrosse and field hockey) both of these sports really require turf. For lacrosse we have to rent the football field at SUNY Albany for the first month and a half of our season AT LEAST which is a huge financial strain on our booster club. Field hockey requires a turf too because grass field hockey and turf field hockey are completely different games, and since almost everyone in the section has a turf field or plays at an alternate location with a turf field, our entire season was played at UAlbany last year just so we could compete adequately with the other teams. We had to have three different fundraisers just to afford our turf times. A turf field at Guilderland is long over due and is putting our teams at a disadvantage.

If we want to compete with other schools, we HAVE TO have access to upper level equipment/ fields.

Overdue. To bad it takes a petition to get it going. Approval should be the easy part. Should now be initiating focus on a cost efficient procurement, installation and maintenance plan.

Long overdue. Spring athletes risk injury every year having to practice in cramped gyms or on icy pavement well into the season before the grass fields are ready

Turf is the way to go. Better lifecycle costs and allows more teams to use the field everyday.

Well while we are at it how about we build a hockey rink the teams JV and varsity are forced to play in Scotia and be bused there everyday for practice. And there is a shortage of rinks in area so school could make money rents g it out .

Commend the initiative, dfinitely worth exploring this as an option, however can we also address the coaching and give them some additional support and guidance?
