With the recent announcement of the Guild Starfire bass, many bassists were disappointed not to see a two pickup bass of "American made" fit and finish quality.
Among these was American musician and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen, best known for his work with Beck, Nine Inch Nails, M83, and many others. The Starfire bass featuredprominentlyon Becks magnum opus album, Sea Change. Justin is a Starfireaficionado, well versed in the nuances of the vintage Guild bass.
I am proposing that Guild work with Justin to build a signature Starfire II bass. I'm thinking of one of the following options:
1) As part of the made to order MIA American Patriarch custom shop line.
2) As a Made in Japan instrument of AVRI Fender quality.
3) As a made in Korea instrument; but with fretwork, finishing, and QA done in the US (similar to what happens with some G&L and Lakland models).
