GSC: Revoke funding for Anscombe Society Conference

While free speech is an important right that should be respected, the GSC should not be sponsoring or funding groups/events that promote discrimination against minorities of any kind. The GSC acts as a representative of Stanford, and funding this means putting Stanford's name behind the cause of the Anscombe Society.

All people are entitled to their beliefs, but Stanford should not financially support congregations whose sole purpose is to perpetuate the violation of basic human rights.

Free speech doesn't mean support from our funds. Let them pay for their own conference.

This event and SAS in general are directly and consciously discriminatory. I am appalled to see that a student governing body at Stanford could allow, and what is more, fund such an event on campus. I believe that in doing so the GSC violates the premise of an inclusive, nondiscriminatory, supportive community that is supposed to exist at Stanford.

Please consider that you are offending many of your fellow students and staff (LGBTQ and not). Also, it is just morally wrong to hold this event. Please, consider canceling it!

I'm disgusted to think our money would go to support a group like SAS. Their values are completely incompatible with an inclusive collegial environment, not to mention basic decency.

As a lesbian on the Stanford campus, I find it completely inappropriate that the GSC would provide funds to an event that is so blatantly promoting the limitation of individual rights.
