We the undersigned, citizens of Saskatchewan, Canada, and the World, draw the attention of the Government of Saskatchewan, Department of Justice to the following: THAT flowers are required to be removed from the graves of our relatives and friends buried at Green Acres Memorial Garden, Weyburn, Saskatchewan between October 1 and April 1 each year. WHEREAS, for said flowers to be removed, it is inconvenient for those family members to find the graves of loved ones during the winter; it makes the cemetery look like a horse pasture when there are no flowers on the graves, and further that it is known that said flowers can serve as a marker for where the headstones are located for snow removal thus preventing damage. THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon the Government of Saskatchewan, Department of Justice, as administrator of the Green Acres Memorial Garden, Weyburn, SK., to change their policy to allow flowers to remain on grave headstones at Green Acres Memorial Garden, Weyburn, SK. throughout the year.

Updates

August 27, 2012

The Department of Justice continues to ignore our families while our loved ones' graves sit desolate like a barren field. I have received dozens of messages from people who cannot even locate their own family headstones under the snow because this heartless policy forces everything to be cleared away. They think we will just give up and accept this neglect but they are wrong.

Please just let us keep the flowers. It makes the winter visits a little easier to handle.

RIDICULOUS policy. Looks like a wasteland in the winter. Very disrespectful to the families.

Why do they have to be so cold about this? It means a lot to keep flowers there.

Common sense guys. markers help people find their loved ones and they keep the snow plows from hitting the stones. change the rule.
