This would be a great use of a currently un-used resource and would provide a safe crossing of the Wisconsin river versus the current route.

A great business opportunity for small businesses in our smaller communities which currently don't benefit from winter tourism due to limited access.

This trail is an important and safe crossing of the mighty Wisconsin river. It would help the snowmobiling community and preserve the rail right of way.

The corridor is wide enough in which a railroad and bike path to Devil's Lake can coexist. If you rip out the rails now they'll be next to impossible to put back in the future. A bike can go anywhere, however, the infrastructure to build a railroad is expensive to say the least. Building solely a bike trail hurts the chances of a major industry wanting to locate in your community if they can cheaply move commodities by rail. So a bike trail alone would be a short-sighted decision. For example, WSOR wanted to restore service on the former Mineral Point and Shullsburg branches of the Milwaukee Road and met heavy opposition from bike enthusiasts and their plans were thwarted. Thus, those bike enthusiasts defeated the whole purpose of the rails-to-trails program. As someone who likes to bike I have to admit that I would much rather go through the Stewart Tunnel in the cab of a F7-A than on my bike. Lastly, there are plenty of bike trails in and around Dane County and how would this trail distinguish itself from the rest?

We need to keep Wisconsin winter tourism strong all across the state. This connector will fill a great need in the area.

This is a very important part of the Sauk County landscape to bring more tourism dollars into the area. Please consider getting this moving.

Wisconsin has already been a national leader in rail to trail conversions. Let's keep that momentum rolling.
