really enjoying showing when I can but sometimes in order for me to get my dog to an event like sweeps it is just so conveinent for my handler to help. It will limit my entering my dogs if the rule stands. I also don't think it is fair to the handlers who do actively own great dogs. those dogs deserve a chance to. If its a biased you are worried about or an unfair advantage I would just like to say I have never met a owner or handler that was not gracious in helping a dog look their best in the ring regardless who was at the end of the leash. Please reconsider the rule it effects more than the handler.

Let anyone show in sweepstakes, it's just another chance to have young dogs shown, more entries could be taken in by the host club and no one has to police the ownership. That alone sounds like far too much work..

There are too many problems withe current.ruling. It was not a good change to begin with and over time has just gotten worse. It's time to coorect this ruling and become more in line with what the majority of members want and other breeds follow.

In your attempt to keep handlers out of sweepstakes, you are discriminating against legitimate partners (co-owners) of a dog. For the small percentage that might try to take advantage of the change, the vast majority will appreciate it.

I think the GRCA Sweepstake rule should be changed to allow ANYONE to show any dog in Sweeps without restriction. When so much time and effort is spent trying to enforce the current rule, perhaps it means that it is a bad rule.

As a breeder myself and a pro handler for many years I have found the current ruling to be difficult to work with. I understand the reason for the current rule was to allow breeders and owners to showcase their pups or veterans without having to compete against the pro handler. They do that in the regular classes. However, if I sell a show pup to someone I'm not allowed to show it in sweeps because I am a pro handler unless I solely own it. I think the rule should be changed as follows: The handler must be the breeder of record (whether or not they are a pro handler), the owner or the co-owner, if said co-owner is also the breeder of record. This change would allow the breeder/pro handler to show in sweeps and yet prevent a pro handlers name being put on a pup as co-owner so that it could be shown in sweeps. This would address both issues I believe.

I'm not sure what the proposed rule change is. The discussion considers multiple alternatives. It talks about making sweeps open to "all," but then says make it open "at least to breeder/owner/co-owner." Which is being proposed? Pick one. I'd support changing the rules to say "all," but I would not supper the rule change if it only let some professional handlers into the ring and not others (e.g., if the handler is not breeder/owner/co-owner on the dog).

I am an Amateur Owner Handler. I have 1 1/2 years experience at show handling and I wish there was a way to compete against my peer group and possibly title a deserving dog. I do have that opportunity to title my dogs as an amateur in competitive sports as a Novice A and gain valuable experience without draining my bank account.( Rally, Agility etc.) If you want more people to show their own dogs you need to acknowledge them and their dogs when their dogs deserve that recognition. I am not asking for an easy title just a fair playing field to get that title.

I would ask that Sweeps rules be changed to allow anyone to show an entry. Sweeps have not been "amateur hour" for years; that ship sailed a long time ago.

Hoping we can get sweeps back to the way they used to be!
