Well as I know a lot of the people who work Blackpool and you will find they to have to get a hackney drivers licence but there rules are a lot more relaxed so long as you have had a car licence for. 1 year and have a short driving test with the horse to show your competent they can grant you a licence no more than 40 licences can be granted .. But they do also run a lot more like a taxi up there as people can choose to be taken upto the tower or down to pleasure beech or a round trip or anywhere inbetween and they all have ranks to stand on. But here you need all Bds qualifications and all sorts for them to grant you a licence so it's alot more costly.

this is a business the council should encourage NOT class as an ordinary taxi service. look at Blackpool they are very successful there and have been for years.

Yes let hope they can see that I'm not exactly going to take any business from the taxis and won't even be running from a taxi rank I do not mind having to get the licence just don't want to be declined becouse ft he cap .. So hoping by getting all these signatures and comments that they will then take the application more seriously and consider it more as a tourist attraction not another taxi even if it still means having to have a taxi licence

Unfortunately hackney carriage also refers to a horse drawn carriage as well as car! As torridge has a capped amount of licences, this is the reason for the delay!

yes we always pick up after our horse to help keep westward ho! clean :)
please feel free to leave a comment of why you think the horse and carriage would be a good thing for westward ho! :) thank you all.
this is obviously not a taxi and should not be treated in the same way.
great for the regeneration of westward ho! with the added positive that the 'waste' is picked up
we need this
I think this would be great
It would be brilliant addition to the Ho!
awesome idea,good luck
I think you should be allowed to do this it's fantastic
Good luck
I think it's a great addition to the Ho and any hinderance to its operation is small minded.
