Grandparent should have the right to protect their grandchildren even if it’s from their parents

I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A NIGHTMARE OF A CASE INVOLVING 3 OF MY GRANDCHILDREN, WHICH BY THE WAY I WAS GIVEN CUSTODY OF 2,BUT THE 3RD AND YOUNGEST DCFS LEFT WITH ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER,NOT THE PARENTS, EVEN THOUGH I STOOD IN COURT AND ASKED FOR ALL THREE, AND NOW THEY ARE MOVING FORWAD WITH ADOPTION,AND TELL ME I HAVE NO RIGHTS AS A GRANDPARENT, ACCORDING TO DCFS,WHICH WILL MANIPULATE EVERYONE INVOLVED. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STEP IN AND CREATE A PROGRAM THAT DCFS HAS TO ANSWER TO, AS OF NOW THEY ARE GOD IN THEY STATE OF LOUISIANA. THEY ANSWER TO NO ONE, AND TOLD ME SO.YES THE STATE OF LOUISIANA NEEDS CHANGES IN THE LAWS CONCERNING GRANDPARENTS, THAT WANT THEIR GRANDCHILDREN!!!....I SIGN THIS PETITION IN HOPES THAT SOMETHING WILL BE DONE. IF WE HAVE TO MARCH ON THE STEPS OF THE STATE CAPITAL TO GET SOME ATTENTION WE NEED TO DO SO!! PRAYERS FORALL FAMILIES IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA THAT EVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH DCFS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A GRANDPARENT.

This is needed because grandchildren are being used as pawns for the parents of the child to control grandparents for money or anything & the grandchildren suffer the most emotionally & physically!

There should be a law passed when Parents are in s legal battle over visitstion. That the grandparents can have rights for that visitation until things are settled.

I want to see my grand child.

Laws in every state should provide grandparents rights for visitation . There would, of course, be exceptions if visiting grandparents could impose danger or harm the children in any way( Drug or alcohol use abuse, etc.)

I just lost the battle of fighting for my grandchildren and now have to get Grandparent visitation rights from the courts.. Heartbroken is not the correct word I feel but it close to it. I love my grandchildren far more than the courts think they know.

I believe grandparents absolutely should gave visitation rights. Our ex daughter in law refuses to even speak to us, does not give the girls their mail or messages since she took their phone and does many more things that are not quite fair. My son suffers from bipolar disorder and is nearly always in a mood to prevent us from visiting or speaking to them either. When we do have the opportunity to see them , time is always limited, mainly because of the woman that he lives with who thinks the kids are hers. She always makes other plans for them that dont include us. And its a vicious cycle because then hes angry if we say anything. The oldest is 10, a smart 10. So she is starting to understand. The youngest is 7 but she too is upset that we cant spend time with them. And neither of the poor darlings want their parents to be upset when they say they want to be with us. HELP!!

I'm currently in a fight for the right to see my grandchildren now. I believe more must be done to ensure our right as Grandparent's are not EVER violated.

Grandparents play a significant roll in loving and caring for there grandchildren. It is recognized even in elementary school by celebrating grandparents day by having grandparents spend time at school with there grandchildren. As a child growing up some of my best memories were my individual special times I spend with my grandparents. When my grandparents passed, I was in my late 30's, it was extremely traumatic for me, since I loved my grandparents like my parents and they were always a presence in my life.

I don't think adult children should be allowed to keep their parents from seeing the grandchildren because they are angry about something. To keep a child from knowing an entire portion of their family is just wrong. If a grandparent can prove they are fit, loving, and stable, they should be allowed to visit their grandchildren.

We alienated grandparents need to be able to see and visit with our precious grandchildren. When the parents decide that you can't see them anymore it is very heartbreaking. I can't see 3 of my grandchildren and it's killing me!!!

I was a big part of my now 11 year old grandson life, up until the age of 6. This baby showed me everyday how much he loved me and I him. His father my son, decided to use the love I have for my grandson to get back at me for saying something he didn't want me to say. My fault was only opening my mouth to someone I did not believe would say anything. No matter how sorry I was he didn't care. 5 years now since I've seen my grandson, I saw on Facebook a picture of my grandson, he was going to be in a summer play. I decided to go, I even got there early hope to get the chance to talk to him and let him know I love him. I did see him, he wouldn't look at me. I asked him if he remembered me, he said, "no" My heart fell! I asked him if he remembers my dog Brandi, he said "yes" I said do you remember my friend Claude he said "yes". So once again I asked him if he remembers me, I'm your GG. His response was "no" I then realize my son has pounded it into his head that he is not to know me. This is mind abuse. Now knowing this, its time for me to fight for the right to love him and fight for his and his now 2 year old sister right to know their grandparent meaning me. Thanks for reading.. My heart dies each and everyday without both of them in my life.

I am a grandmother who has been cut off from my grandchildren due to a family dispute regarding mistakes that my DAUGHTER made. She cannot and will not accept the consequences of her own decisions, and has lashed out at me as a grandparent, using her children as weapons. This is cruel, not only to me, but to my grandchildren, who are to young to understand why I have suddenly disappeared from their lives. Grandparents should at least be given the right to see their grandchildren, regardless of what their relationship is to their parents.

I believe that grandparents should have a say so in their grandchildrens life for many reasons. I believe this law needs to change in favor of loving and caring grandparents are being treated like outsiders to their own grandchildren.
