PLEASE *************PLEASE********************PLEASE *************** READ READ READ READ North Carolina is 6th in the NATION regarding grandparents taking care of their grandchildren under the age of 18! Please lets push House Bill H239 so grand parents will have rights here in North Carolina.   In 2000 their were 70,000 grand parents raising their grand children but yet in grandparents have no rights when it comes to visitation with our precious little ones. I am asking WHY, they so many grandparents taking care of their grandchildren in North Carolina now. This is mostly due to drug abuse and or incarceration of one or more parents. We really start at birth taking caring for all their needs, I know I did. I cut the cord; I feed and clothed my daughter when she was pregnant. I bought all my granddaughters diapers, clothing and food. I provided a roof over her head until she was 2 years old. I then still had to buy her clothing, toys, and provide toilet paper and anything else that was needed for her.  May the 28th 2010 I became another statistic for the state of NC as my grand daughter was placed in my care by DSS.  My grandson was placed with his father which resulted a 650 mile move on my part so I could keep these children together.  I am just one of many who has done the same and more for their grand children so please do not put this on the bottom of the pile let's get this simple bill passed so grand parents are not punished. The children need love in their life's and no one can do that better than a grand parent. Thanks to all who signs this petition.

I am still reading every single message you send me and I am truly humbled by the stories you share about your own grandchildren. It is becoming clear that so many of us are living through the same heartbreak in silence. This momentum belongs to you because I am just one person trying to give our families the recognition we deserve.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have connected with this struggle. None of this growth would have happened without the personal stories you have all been sharing in the comments section today. You are the ones truly carrying this forward.

Its ridiculous that the state ignores the people actually doing the work. My wife and I have raised our grandbabies for 4 years and we deserve a say in their lives.

My heart breaks for all the gparents going thru this. These kids need their stability and grandparents are the only ones holding it together most of the time. Pass this bill already.

We just want to see our grand kids. Why is that so hard for the law to understand?
