We, the undersigned, understand that the property known as \"The Gran Canyon\" in Brooksville, Florida is being considered for purchase by Hernando County, Florida for recreational purposes.
The Gran Canyon disc golf course was a unique experience, unlike any other course in the world. It hosted numerous national level tournaments sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association and drew hundreds of competitors from across the country to Hernando County. Many competitors feel that it is one of the best disc golf courses of all time and would like to see it resurrected for recreational and tournament play.
We further understand that (as of 11-08-07) this project is in the preliminary stages and is merely a possibility. In the event that Hernando County is able to acquire the property, we respectfully request that you consider the inclusion of disc golf as a recreational offering.
The current level of support confirms that there is a viable constituency for this project. I am compiling this data to present at the next Hernando County commission meeting to demonstrate the economic interest in reopening the course.

Hernando county needs to see how much money this brought in for local hotels and food. It was a massive draw for the community.

So many memories out there. Would be a total shame to let it sit empty when it could be a world class course again.

This place was legendary. My buddies and I drove down from Georgia just to play it. Please bring it back.
