I just heard from the administration that they are going back to the old way of recognizing honors at the ceremony. None of this would have happened if you had not spoken up so loudly for each other. Thank you for making sure everyone gets the recognition they earned.

For the past three years at graduation, Cleveland High School has recognized high honors, honors and then the rest of the students in alphabetical order, but this year Mr. Byrd has made the decision to arrange students based solely off of alphabetical order. Graduation is a time when those of us who have worked hard can finally show off our accomplishments to family and friends.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you stepped up to support this. If we can reach five hundred names before the meeting with the administration then our point will be impossible to ignore. This momentum belongs entirely to your dedication.

This is atrocious! My son could have graduated in December but chose to take one more class just so he could graduate with honors. These kids deserve the recognition for their hard work. Mr Byrd, you are not using your head!

This is an outrage. You are encouraging mediocrity and discouraging academic excellence, the antithesis of what an educator should strive for. Those who work to excel in academics should be recognized for their achievements.

I graduated with honors from WJHS in 2012 and I know how much of a privilege it is for the school to acknowledge that accomplishment. It gives the student a sense of pride for all of their hard work to get that honors and they deserve to be recognized for it.

my son had worked very hard to keep his gpa above a 4.0. I don't think it's fair for Mr. Byrd to change everything up for this high school. He is giving our high school a very bad name. we are becoming a laughing stock.

When I graduated I wasn't in honors or high honors, and I had no problem watching my friends that have worked hard all 4 years go before me. This isn't what life is going to be like, not everyone gets a participation award. If you work hard, you should get recognized for it. Period.

I agree 100% to this. I worked so hard and my last name starts with a 'Y' and I didn't want to be called last at graduation. I was so excited for this day because I wasn't going to be at the end of the list. But now im back to square one
