Don't mess with tradition

I don’t understand why this has to be changed there are many more problems in the school than changing the color of the gowns for graduation. Keep the tradition alive and stop forcing kids to do what they don’t want to do just because of a few students

Class of 1991 I like tradition.

I graduated in 1972 and was proud to wear the traditional colors that Eastchester High School wore for years>> Please don't break with the old traditions>> They re the backbone of any school>>>

Focus on something that needs to be changed and if it's not broken don't fix it

Let the kids decide what they want!

As Alex said, many of the changes the kidd have been forced to endure this year ( no locker rooms or auditorium, time of graduation itself, etc) this is one thing that you can actually control. It’s THEIR graduation. Let them have this one thing.

When does this madness stop? Let the students choose whatever color he/she wants to wear. If a girl wants to wear the blue, cool. If the boy wants to wear white, cool. Why does the minority get to dictate for the rest of society? Why draw even more attention to yourself? In the Bible it’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. That being said- I don’t care what a person wants to do with themselves, I have a problem with having someone’s agenda/beliefs being jammed down my throat.

Keep them as they always were as long as the graduates can wear the color of the gender they identify with.

As a graduate within only the last few years of EHS I find these changes so be incredibly sad! First, it was the senior pictures. Senior pictures are meant to be professionally taken pictures with the fake black shirts and the suits with the color back drop. Myself, my brother and my sister all have a space on the wall for our pictures in our home, this year my sister was to take a picture outside EHS in her own clothes.... ? This broken tradition is now hanging in my living room. This goes for the professional pictures taken at graduation. Now my sister will not have one of these hanging on the wall along with the rest of ours. The gowns are meant to be blue and white. I am not naive to the gender issues going on today but as it has been mentioned already but other students and parents, these issues are a small group that you are trying to appease rather than the majority. That is not fair or creating equality. I do understand blue is a masculine color but as stated it should be either a chose for each student which color they would like, white or blue, or stick everyone in white. It creates a new tradition for gender equality while still keeping the old tradition alive. Good job Alexandra and the rest of the Class of 2018 - being heard and standing up for what you believe in is what life is all about! You have full support from the EHS Alumni! Keep the gowns white, keep the traditions alive!

I don't know Alexandra but I am extremely proud of her. A young lady raised to respect and reflect on tradition. Doing things a "traditional" way gives an unexplained feeling when an older generation is looking on. It brings back memories and puts smiles of pride on the faces of many. I don't know why anyone thinks the colors are exclusionary. I agree that everyone has a right to speak up and have input but not everyone will always get their way. Just because you have a small group that don't agree with the tradition, you should not exclude the majority's opinion or expectations. Karen Gizzo Campanile Class of 1992
