The participation policy was unclear at the beginning of class and when I did write comments on problems I was told that my comments were "unhelpful". I'm not sure what a "helpful" comment is in calculus. I messaged him asking about a question on a quiz after it was graded and he replied in a condescending tone. The final exam consisted of 80% of the last weeks problems and they were the hardest to digest by far. This was the worst class that I have taken at UMUC and I will surely never take a class with him again. Look at ratemyprofessor.com and you'll see multiple ratings over the years saying the same thing that students in this class have said.

I feel like I spent most of my time self-teaching myself from sources not provided by UMUC (teacher or material) because the material of the class was simply not in depth enough and the teacher was practically non existent. I feel like the grades I received on the quizzes are "fair" per say, but my discussion grades are hard to justify from the standards we were given.

I understand online classes can be difficult, especially in upper level math courses. However, this class was not instructed but facilitated and basically learn on your own. It was no different than me going to educational sites (Khan Academy, YouTube) and learning on my own while not having to pay the high fees. What made it worse was the delay in getting graded work back to me which was the day before the next assignment was due. So I really had no visibility of what I was doing wrong and it just had a snowball effect. I saw no reason to take the final as I already know I will not be passing this course and will have to retake it, probably at another institution. The instructors should have some sort of online sessions to provide lessons or help on the problems. Definitely not worth my investment in time and money.

Little or no feedback with grading. Instructions were poorly presented. Final exam contains 80% of the materials student had trouble comprehending. Not enough material..

I felt the participation went away from the syllabus and because of that had personal bias involved as to what counts as participation and what does not. This resulted in confusion and a lesser understanding on how to perform calculus.

The discussion grades are absolutely wrong. Vague, no guidlines and considered late if turned in before the assigned closing date. Should show the due date that's accurate with discussions, not a week later.

He made a horrible decision on the participation grades. Making the course's discussion insignificant towards the grading process.
