AOS students have a couple concerns regarding our experiences with summatives:

1. Because we are on technology it is difficult to predict the problems we will face during class. This is creating problems while doing and uploading time-sensitive activities, such as tests, in class.
2. Because we are in a disconnect from our teachers, we are collectively having difficulties understanding the material in the same manner that we did while in person. This is causing us to not perform on the same level we would be in school.
3. We are having difficulty completing tests, because we do not have enough time to comprehend, answer, scan, then upload the material. This is diverting us from actually performing to the best of our ability on these tests to trying to complete the tests as quickly as possible by sacrificing the quality of our work.

Based on these three problems we, as a community of students, believe that we will benefit from a grade curve on our major summatives and increased time on major summatives. We believe that we will be able to show our understanding of the material better when we have more time to think and answer the material rather than worry about the technology issues while uploading it. We also believe that a grade curve on summatives will allow us to strive for understanding the material rather than simply memorizing the textbooks in hopes of perform well on our tests.
