I honestly cannot believe I am typing this but FERC actually ruled in our favor and the misleading statements are finally on the record. It feels like a fever dream that all 278 of us really pulled this off together because I was honestly losing sleep over the shoreline destruction …

- GPUD has not worked cooperatively with the Sunland Community over the past 2 years (or more) with regard to the Sunland Shoreline, Public Recreation or Public Access. This uncooperative situation has resulted in the negligently planned and insufficiently resourced public recreational sites of Rattlesnake Cove and Frenchman’s Coulee and is now resulting in the destruction of acres of recreational areas along the Sunland shoreline.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam but it feels like the truth is finally bubbling up to the surface. It is wild to see everyone coming together because honestly I was worried I was the only one paying attention to what GPUD was hiding from FERC.

GPUD needs to look at aerial photos from 30 years ago as to what the landscape and waters edge looked like. The trees and plants they are bringing in are not native from years ago.
We feel very strongly that the Gpud is not dealing fairly with Sunland Estates Homeowners. At one homeowners meeting, a representative stated that we have had it good for too long. We are paying for what happened at Crescent Bar.
As a land owner (740 River Drive) in Sunland, it is difficult to understand how the PUD can decide to not comply to Sunland CC&R's. What makes PUD believe they don't have to follow the rules that are part of the legal responsibilities that apply to each landowner in Sunland?
We are full time residents, we pay property taxes, we support Grant County at large by supporting local business and we are frustrated & saddened by what we hear & see happening at the hands of local government officials who hide behind FERC rather than create a cooperative working relationship with our community.
Ferc. Wants gpud to make more recreational property not less. The actions gpud are doing is not going to make the shoreline more inviting to anyone, not sun landers, or the general public and will not improve the area for wildlife either because there are too many people,. Sunland is for recreation and people.
Grant County PUD made promises to Sunland homeowners that they would be allowed to keep and maintain their current green space (lawns) if we would file permits. The permits were filed and then Sunland homeowners were told that we could not maintain (water) these same green spaces. Based upon statements to me by Grant County PUD employees I redid my green space. This very same green space and retaining wall that was previously permitted by Grant County PUD. Now, Grant County PUD is requiring me to take down the retaining wall and remove my sprinkler system which would cause the green space (grass) to die. This is a mere 25 foot of firebreak. Grant County PUD has made misleading statements to me, the other homeowners in Sunland Estates, and to FERC. They are causing the destruction of a large recreation area that has been privately maintained at no cost the them.. Grant County PUD is not being honest with FERC or Sunland Estates homeowners.
This will be a disaster, if passed.

Hopefully FERC will do more than just ask GPUD what this petition is about, get proactive and have a FERC represenTative with common sense get involved. GPUD insists they are just meeting FERC requirements? After reading all of these comments surely FERC can see that there is more going on here than that!
