I've seen my team Portsmouth survive the perils of modern football club ownership so I don't see why Torquay shouldn't have hope going into the future.

20 years ago my team, Brighton and hove Albion needed support from the footballing community. We have gone from strength to strength, as has been seen only this week. Torquay now need the same support we were shown. Football and fans united.

Speaking as a former AFC Bournemouth employee, learn from our experience. Find those willing partners to work with the town, supporters and club to protect the huge legacy and community value of Torquay United and their Plainmoor home - synonymous throughout the country's football community, with your town and Devon. Good luck. Keep the faith!!

The politicians and businessmen will lose votes and friends, how are those involved in Brighton, Wimbledon or for example Charlton remembered? You dont build a community and society by ripping it up.
