Bring Google Fiber to Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia! Internet access is as vital today as it has ever been, and nearly rivals basic utilities, like water and electricity, in importance. However, we're in the middle of a growing crisis. Limited competition between broadband providers is causing us to pay insanely high prices for comparatively slow speeds. Go ahead, look up the speeds countries like South Korea get, and what they pay, and compare that to the providers in the US. I'll wait. Done? Good. You see the problem. Google Fiber is a new undertaking by the global giant to bring truly high speed internet to the masses, at costs that make those of us currently buying broadband weep tears of joy. Pricing and plans is here: https://fiber.google.com/plans/residential/ and here's an article from Ars Technica on the plan http://arstechnica.com/business/2012/07/google-fiber-launches-in-kansas-city/ The reason for this petition is that currently Google Fiber is only available in and around Kansas City. That's not exactly close to DC. Luckily Google has said they will try and bring the Fiber service to places that show interest. So let's show some interest. Share this with everyone you know in the DMV, and try to get them onboard. If you're interested in Gigabit internet for potentially as low as $70 a month, then sign on.

I truly never imagined that so many people would resonate with this call for better internet options. This growth is entirely due to your passion for change and I am just humbled to be a small part of it.

I honestly started this just to see if anyone else felt the same way, but hitting 100 signatures today is completely overwhelming. This momentum is entirely because of you and your willingness to help bring better internet to our area.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by how many of you have joined this effort so quickly. We are just a few names away from hitting one hundred signatures and it really belongs to all of you for getting us here.

near Lynchburg area, and the smaller places around it, internet is far from cheap, we're currently paying 70 bucks a month for 720 kbps downloads for a whole family, it'd be great if we could get something faster for that price

Oh GOD, PLEASE. I came from Romania where I had 2000mbps for 70RON (15$) and I am not joking. I am used to superfast internet. I hate COMCAST SO MUCH and internet drops at least 1 time per day where in Romania it dropped no more than 2 times per year and this isn't a joke.

I hope Google Fiber comes to the Alexandria, VA area. I am not alone in wanting to get fiber internet, it is just that other fiber internet providers have such such expensive service costs.

We need more options in the DMV. Also with Verizon selling a good part of their west coast biz, strikes, and realizing people are dumping cable in favor of streaming they might try and jack up prices on their east coast ops. Kinda think Big Red is gonna ram a lot of peeps in the brown.

I live in Locust Grove, Virginia, 22508. I have lived here for 5 years and still have no internet options outside of satellite. It is very frustrating to not have anything. Comcast and verizon refuse to service my area because it is not profitable for them. Please service this area

Comcast is the worst internet/ cable service known to man but here in Laurel, MD it's the only service I can get. There are literally thousands of angry customers who would give an arm & leg to have a reliable internet provider. At least consider it.

Good luck. Hope you Remember Racist Joe Biden’s famous quote "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you Ain't Black," translation, If You Don’t Vote for Me, ‘You Ain’t Black’, that said, All Black Americans should wake up and challenge the ill-educated anti-American BLM to explain HOW looting and rioting, arson attacks on private businesses , rampant violence and lawlessness protesting, stomping and burning the U.S.A. flag, vandalizing and toppling Civil War statues and monuments, there by Erasing the History of the Pro-slavery, Spread Hating, and currently the True Racist Democratic Party which was Proudly Known Historically as The Slaveholding Confederate States of America, stop blacks from murdering each other in record numbers every weekend in Democrat-run cities and states ONLY? Why does BLM believe black lives ONLY matter when they are harmed or killed by a white person, especially a white cop and not by black hoodlum? (Think) Where are the multitude of protesters, mourners, and televised funeral services from BLM for the deaths of Black men, women, children, and cops killed by black thugs across America's major cities? The truth is BLM does not care about blacks as more Black Americans are killed by blacks then by cops. Well, the fact is, All Lives Matter (ALM). It is Sad, Insulting, and Degrading that Black Americans Today after all this Years have Forgotten (Think) who the Real Racists have Been and Continue to be, namely, the Democrats.
