I have a major beef with the intersection of Golf Road and Oceanbeach Rd's. A few months back the council put in traffic lights, etc. My major concern is that if you are coming from Papamoa, towards the mount and need to turn left into Golf Road, can cause problems. They way they have set it up is that there is only one traffic lane, to turn left and go straight ahead and a cycle lane. This morning, just after 8am I had to turn left, I do this to avoid Bayfair roundabout. Was first in the queue and the lights changed, but I had a red arrow, so I waited. Two cars overtook me and when the light changed and I was about to move off, when a cyclist comes up my inside and tries to go through. I did, as I said, I my lift indicator. I, of course, waited because of the fact the 5 have died, in five days, I was very careful as many along there. I rang the Council and just received a phone call back. Seems I have to make an official complaint about it, before they will even list to my concerns. I would be most interested if other could please comment, in here, good or bad, and I will put in with my letter to council. Thank you, Ian.
