I strongly agree with the authors of the petition and other commenters so far: bringing this large, unethical corporation into our neighborhood would violate its character and residents as well as introduce all the specific problems cited. WE WANT ONLY SMALL, LOCAL BUSINESSES HERE! Our corner of Temescal is already struggling with growth and gentrification. Please do not allow this abomination to change our beloved neighborhood dramatically for the worse!

The neighborhood does not need another beer garden nor does it need an outdoor that stays open until 1am and 2am. I also object to the corporate big business moving into an area that has a long standing and healthy tradition of independent, local business.

I feel that an outdoor beer area isn't appropriate, as it backs up to residential housing. Additionally, this development would remove 14 parking spots and as the proposal is to not include the 5 spaces legally required, this is in bad faith to the neighborhood. Additional concerns are the incoming housing which would also be affected by noise, garbage and security issues.

As a former member of the beer industry community in the East Bay, I whole-heartedly do not want an ABInBev owned business in my town. They are known for swallowing up local businesses by stealing their ideas and then undercutting their prices. I don't want to see this happen to local nearby breweries such as Temescal and Novel. These start-up breweries of outstanding quality deserve our community's support, not billionaires ABInBev. Rebecca Lind, stand up for Oakland, and not for big money.

In addition to comments on petition, what will the business be doing to 1) provide security to combat the large numbers of street robberies of customers that have ben happening at nearby businesses such as Homeroom? 2) to keep patrons from using the bus stop as a drop-off/pickup zone for the business, interfering with this major bus route? This open air alcohol sales is a wholly inappropriate businessnes at a major transfer point for Oakland Tech High School students.

I am a 12 year craft beer industry professional who has been involved in various capacities with the opening and operations of four different Oakland based small businesses. Until 2016 I served as GM and Beverage Director of a beer-centric restaurant on the 40th Street corridor. I am a Longfellow resident who believes in the virtue of small business and growth. I typically abhor NIMBY-ism. Nevertheless, I am wholeheartedly opposed to ABInBev subsidiary, Golden Road opening a beer garden here in my neighborhood.
ABInBev (and Anheuser Busch before) has a decades long history of corruption and unethical business practice. The company was the subject of an anti-trust investigation last year. Their southern, CA distribution arms were just hit with record fines last month.
What is especially frustrating in this instance is that our City would be making a deal with an unethical company and getting very little in return. There is already plenty of great beer in the area. When Arthur Mac's opens this coming weekend there will be another outdoor beer garden with shipping containers just a few blocks away at 40th and MLK. And that one will be locally owned and operated!
The 40th street corridor is already thriving and growing. So much so that parking is now a frequent issue. Given that this project would remove 30 parking spots, add 32 employees and hundreds of customers, it is clear that it would only exacerbate the burgeoning parking problem around 40th and Broadway.

I am opposed to the building of Anheuser-Busch biergarten on 40th. The surrounding areas of Temescal and Piedmont Avenue do not need more establishments selling alcohol, nor the resulting congestion, noise and unpleasant, at times dangerous, behaviors that come with excessive alcohol consumption.

Our neighborhood needs so many other things more than another biergarten (especially one from Anheuser-Busch): affordable housing, a grocery store, green space, community center, or really any kind of small local business. This kind of business is not what makes Oakland thrive, and will disrupt the neighborhood with noise and cars. I urge you to deny this project.

Our community should be investing in businesses that are locally owned and operated, rather than assisting a corporation in expediting the gentrification of Oakland. The presence of an Anheuser Busch owned beer garden stands in opposition to community values.

Place too big. Where are customers supposed to park. Parking already sucks in that area. The noise level will be off the charts and well as puke and pee.

I don't see how another drinking establishment would contribute to the neighborhood. We already have to clean up cigarettes, urine and garbage regularly tossed outside of our doors due to the abundance of alcohol and fast food in the vicinity. It would also be a negative influence on the young people trying to overcome alcohol and drug dependency at Thunder Road Adolescent Treatment Center, 390 – 40th St.
