United States Senator Orrin G. Hatch, Utah (R) To The Honorable Orrin G. Hatch, U.S. Senator, Utah (R),

Please, we ask that you would sponsor a bill to designate the third Sunday of August, each year, as "God's Preeminence Day". A federally recognized holiday, designed to pay tribute to God, And Holy Spirit. We believe it is important to have one specific day, set aside from all other federal holidays, designed to pay tribute to God, And Holy Spirit.

A United States Senator, The Honorable Orrin G. Hatch, stated in a letter written to our office in reply to a letter sent to him requesting that he may appoint or recommend this holiday observance, “God’s Preeminence Day”, and sponsor a bill for it to become a recognized federal holiday observance., and I quote: "I value your input and appreciate hearing your reasoning behind creating "God's Preeminence Day". There is no doubt that religion played a great role in shaping our nation's history and Constitution. I have been a very religious person my entire life and I believe that prayer and other forms of religious worship - regardless of the denomination - can positively influence the values of America's citizens. Indeed, our national heritage has been profoundly influenced by religious thought. Therefore, as I have in the past, I will continue to support reasonable legislative proposals - such as that allowing school prayer, the posting of the Ten Commandments, and continuing the use of "In God we Trust" - that I believe will result in more religious freedom for all Americans. I will keep your strong support for a "God's Preeminence Day" to further recognize the role of religion in our nation in mind as I discuss such matters in the Senate (Hatch, Dec.2012)."
