My husband is the III so when we found our we were having a boy, he was adamant that we continue the name. He got his way but our son is called Drew for "quadruple".

I say yes. there's nothing wrong with Michael either but if it is an important tradition to your husband and his family its worth it to go with your husband on this one. plus the nicknames could be cool and its unique. do this for your husband... no veto baking rights for the other kids is great.

Nix on the godliness of it, Dad seems reasonable in his request and petition. "Michael" is ordinary. Let the kid enjoy his father's heritage with something more interesting.

don't do it. My sons name is Panagos. At the time he was born all I thought about was tradition, not what his life would be like in a professional manner. He has been ask for his real name after he has introduced himself. Think about your son in his 30's not working in a professional field.

I married a greek and my first born was named after my father in law and I gave my son my fathers's name as a middle name; but it was a simple translation of Christopher John my next two I didn't go by tradition because I believe each child needs individuality not having 20 Gus ' in one family. Having said that, my suggested name . . . Ulysses Titus good luck may your baby always be happy and healthy no matter what his name may be.

I am also Greek and my first born son is named after my father. It shows respect. A wife should encourage that. The Grandfather expects it and would be disappointed if he hears that he was not named Spyridon. Also, Saint Spyridon was a great saint!
