I agree with Nicholas! "Michael" is a fine name but not very unique. I think Spyridon Michael Soukeras would be the best choice.

Please don't name your poor child spyridon. He will be teased endlessly for life. The name while holding good memories of you about your father will only bring him pain and bullying.

My son, first-born - was named after my husband's grandfather. My husband was Indian by birth and his gradfather was a Nawab (the Muslim equivalent of a Maharajah) and it was a very unique name, Fazil. My son is very proud of his hame and says that he wouldn't like to be called anything else. He loves his name because it is unique and it is part of his heritage.

It's an honor to men to have children named for you. No father says oh yeah my grandson on my DAUGHTERS side is named after me, his last name isn't going to be the same so in 50 years the kid isn't going to know he was named after his mother's father and remember his mothers maiden name. He's going to remember his ACTUAL last name and hopefully his Granfathers name too. Extremely logical

I have to say to find a way to use part of both grandfathers names together in whichever way sounds the best to you too Its your child not the worlds so make your choice they are both great

Are you kidding? I lived with my name, Lavinia Magliocco, in the American Midwest. It was butchered. Attempts were made to truncate it, and I was teased beyond reason. I will sign your petition, but be prepared to help your son stave off a lot of torment as a result. good luck.

Why not name him both. Micheal Spyridon. I myself am not too fond of Spyridon, but if you must name him that, maybe you could give him a nickname, like Donny or Rider...Just my opinion.

I vote for it as a middle name: Michael Spyridon. That way it honors both grandfathers, but as the wife is the one having to go through labor, she gets to pick the order. You can call him Spy as a nickname for short if you so wish.

I guess I'm not a history buff. I think everyone should have his own name. That would leave out both of the ones mentioned.

All marriages requite compromise. In our home, if the baby is a girl I pick,the first name,and my husband chooses the middle name. However, if it is a boy, then the roles are reversed and he chooses the first name and i choose the middle name.

I think "Spyridon" is a lovely name and very unique. I have known dozens of men named "Michael." The fact that the petitioner wishes to name his firstborn son after his father also adds to his argument. My name is very simple and easy to pronounce, but I have been called everything from "Joanne" to "Johanna," my point being that people can "mangle" even the simplest of names. I wish the parents and baby the best of luck no matter what name they choose! Good luck with the pregnancy.

My name rightfully should have been Kostas, after my father's father. Instead my mother insisted on Michael, breaking generations of history from firstborn son to firstborn son. As a result I have been cursed to be childless, my only child being miscarried at 6 weeks. Not only will I never have a firstborn son to name after my father, I will have no heir at all and will die a dead end having lived a worthless life.
