She should honor the tradition and not hide the child's heritage.

I'm with you, the boy should be named by the father. Especially since you agreed to name it after her mother if it's a girl. She should compromise.

I agree that the son should be named Michael Spyridon. That sounds cool. And the child is already gonna have the husbands last name. Why not let the wife put her familys name in it as well. To only think of your family is selfish and hopefully the wife realizes, as she is the one giving birth and who will be filling out the paperwork, that she has final say in what to name her child. I would smack the husband and tell him to knock of his selfish juvenile ways and meet halfway. He didn't make the kid himself and his opinions are not the only ones that matter.

My son's names are Yanni and Kosta. We live in a small town. People often mispronounce their names, but they don't care. They love their name because they are named after my husband's deceased uncle and my father. Good luck to you. I have visited St. Spyridon's relics in Corfu. It would be a very special name.

I think your son should carry the name of his paternal grandfather, Spyridon. It would be a nice gesture to have his second name be Michael after his maternal grandfather. Both names are beautiful. Both of his parents families and heritages would then be honored.

I think it's a very unique name which will help him stand out from all the other kids. It's a family name - so such a sweet tribute to the childs grandfather. And the mom has already 'won' if they have a girl, she will be named after maternal grandmother. Let dad have this one. If mom loves the child she will learn how to pronounce the name, or together with her husband they cam come up with a cool nickname. SPYRIDON !

It means a lot to a man to honor his father. Spyridon will be deeply moved when he is old enough to undertstand the importance of his name. Good luck Dad!

Why would you torture a child with a name like that. Kids are cruel and are bullies and with a name like that you are asking for children to make fun of him. He will not thank you later. I never thanked my mother and father for my name because in school the kids called me"DORKLENE IS GAYER". Go with a common name....your child will thank you later.

I think this is a beautiful name. It has history and is so meaningful to the father. Also, he has basically said he will chose the first name of the first son ONLY and all other naming rights to future children will be hers. To be honest, I think she is being a bit selfish and childish about this.
