I love the name Spyridon and things it does sound pleasant to my non-Greek ear. My sons middle name is Michael, and it's a beautiful name but Spyridon is so strong and meaningful. i love it.

Good name or bad name is up to the parents to decide, but I think he will appreciate the meaning of family that much more once he learns the meaning of his name. I live in Hawaii where the Polynesians give these huge long names that only they can pronounce. They kindly shorten them for the rest of us and their names is not the reason we are friends with them. It is an added bonus when they explain the meaning behind it. Scott (and probably Michael, for that matter) seems a lot more boring by comparison.

Considering how important naming your first-born son Spyridon seems to be to you personally, and the lack of strong supporting evidence to this on the counterpart, I sign the petition! Note however that I don't know it to be as a godly or orthodox right, but more a traditional and your personal right.

other ethnic cultures have the same. I don't see why you can't give him the grandfather's name, and if chosen, call him Mike or Michael. I vote for spyridon
