It is becoming clearer that continued investment in infrastructure that supports the continued use of the private fossil fuelled motorcar is short sighted and unwise both environmentally and now economically. This petition seeks the complete intergovernmental policy change from massive infrastructure investment in roads to public transport instead, namely rail but not solely. As an example the re addressing of proposed funding for the $1billion plus SH20 Waterview highway tunnel towards Auckland Rail, initially the C.B.D. underground rail loop. It is the authors opinion that New Zealander's are seeking modern and efficient public transport alternatives. The window of opportunity to alter course is shrinking.
