And i'd like to see some cars and trucks designed specifically to use E85 and benefit from the performance advantages possible with high octane alcohol based fuel (higher compression ratio for example), not just "flex fuel" vehicles that are a compromise and don't really get all the benefits possible with E85. We use E85 in our race car and the performance improvement over gasoline is substantial (proven on a dynamometer), so I am very aware of the potential with this fuel. It is a very impressive fuel!

It is disappointing how few flex-fuel vehicles are offered to U.S. consumers.
My perception is that it would be a relatively small cost increase to the vehicle to make it flex fuel capable. If it was offered on more vehicles, it would seem likely that the additional cost per vehicle would go down. Auto makers don’t seem to have any reservations about offering other options that are much more expensive and serve no real need.
