Petition to The Glen Rose School Board

Petition Summary:   We will state our position in the form of questions to the Glen Rose School Board:  In 2 sets of questions.

FIRST SET:  Fact and evidence based.

1.       According to the  Arkansas Department of Education, has the Glen Rose School District ever been in fiscal distress; currently or in the past 12 years?

2.       According to the Arkansas Department of Education, has the Glen Rose School District ever been in academic distress; currently or in the past 12 years?

3.       According to the Arkansas Department of Education, are the facilities at Glen Rose School District below average or subpar for our students?

These questions can all be answered factually and emphatically NO!  There can be no debate or opinion regarding these issues as they are not opinion but evidence based and accurate.  The questions above are all indicators of an achieving and monetarily sound organization which directly correlates with strong leadership.

SECOND SET:  Personal and opinion based.

In opposition, these questions while based on personality and opinion must be answered YES by logical and rational-thinking people. 

Summary:  We submit that the nonrenewal of Superintendent Nathan Gills’ contract to this point has been based on the second set of questions and are exclusively based on personal opinion and not evidence.  Further, you are reminded that each of you represent ALL THE PATRONS of the district.  It is assumed that we share the same interest of success for students of the Glen Rose School District.  Clearly Glen Rose is a great school and we think there is much data to support that this fact is due in large part to the leadership provided by Mr. Gills.  Logic, and the role wherein you were elected to serve, requires that you consider facts rather that personal preference in this important decision for the future of Glen Rose students.  We have great CONFIDENCE in this school under the leadership of Nathan Gills.  Nonrenewal of his contract is a vote of no confidence by the School Board.  We urge you to renew the contract of Mr. Gills so we the undersigned will continue to have confidence in you as a school board.

Action Petitioned For:    We the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to renew Mr. Nathan Gills contract as Superintendent of Glen Rose Schools for the next three-year period.
