A hearing to rezone 11 acres at the southeast corner of Meridian Rd. and 157 will be held February 19, 2013. If successful, a student housing complex with 384 beds and spaces for cars will be allowed. The only access in and out will be onto Meridian Road. This will severely impede access to 157 and create extreme congestion in all surrounding areas as students will be turning both east and west onto 157 and then cutting through any neighborhoods that will facilitate accessibility to SIUE. Our property values will diminish, access to work and services will be extremely compromised and the peaceful nature of the area will be transformed into a college dorm atmosphere (one giant block party as my 22-year-old son put it). There are better locations for student housing. Please sign this petition in protest of the rezoning and help to save our neighborhoods.
