This link would be a boon to all in the area and outwith. I could get to visit my Mum easily without having to drive.

I think it is important that have that rail link between Edinburgh & Glasgow to Dumfries via Lockerbie and also perhaps certain London trains going via Dumfries. The borders line was long awaited but has already made such a difference.

When I was younger the train from London used to stop at Dumfries and was such a great easy journey from getting to north or south. We also used the train to go to Glasgow for a day out or to work etc. So why they stopped this good service baffles me.The London to Glasgow train still goes through Dumfries without stopping please let it stop there again.Having a fast link to Edinburgh and Glasgow makes the surrounding areas for the people of Dumfries easier to get to and puts them on the map for more tourism which brings more money to the area.

As a frequent rail user this would make Dumfries and the surrounding area much easier to get to.

Ridiculous that we in the south west of Scotland do not have a direct rail link or road link to our Capital city !

Given the ever-increasing number of potholes on the Dumfries to Edinburgh roads, a railway would be a godsend.

As a student living in Edinburgh who is from Kirkcudbright it is very inconvenient to get a train to Lockerbie because I then need to sort out a lift home. The Edinburgh-Dumfries bus takes about 3 hours so I would always prefer to take the train if I can get a lift from Lockerbie.

A reliable, integrated train and bus network would help improve public transport in the first instance, but a wider rail network is needed in the long term and it is foolish to have to travel unnecessarily through Glasgow.

Two things that would help, a link to Dumfries and a halt at Thornhill station.
