University of Pretoria - Give Us Back Our October Recess

I think it is really unfair towards those who actually want to attend class and get a well deserved recess

Holiday plans have already been made and booked

In the beginning of the year knowing the dates of recess made plans and booked flights overseas. I am unable to change these plans.

We need our reses back. It can't be that there is a strike for one day and two days before weekend the classes are resumed and we have to miss the reses due to that and some of us education students we have to go home and submit the form for doing practical next year so we were looking forward to the reses to do that sinve it's expected of us to bring them back by October.

Unfair on students who have plans and are willing to learn.

My daughter studies hard and plans her time accordingly. We have paid for her flight for recess and it cannot be refunded or changed without further expense. Up your security and clear out the students causing the disruption and damage. Why must those in minority affect the rest? University is a privilege not a right!

This is ridiculous. I have booked non refundable flights that are going to go to waste now. Thanks a lot. Who's going to pay my R1500.

As much as we (the students) are in full support of the Fees Must Fall campaign, the fact that our recess is being done away with on such short notice is met with great opposition. This is not only unfair towards those who were willing to attend class and write tests as scheduled, but also towards those who are fighting a battle for the greater good of students in general. This is not only unfair but unconstitutional. What about students who have made arrangements for this week? What about those who bought flight tickets? Those who have saved up time and money to visit loved ones? Those who have planned study time accordingly? University of Pretoria: GIVE BACK OUR OCTOBER RECESS

We need our recess

My plans for this October recess were made at the beginning of June already. I can't change anything now. And it will be unfair to write the sick tests for the tests I'm missing (in my holiday?) because the scope is on the whole semester's work and the tests are made harder for people who perhaps faked being sick because they didn't study enough. So I'm not sure why I will have to go to my lecturers now and explain this to them and apologise for making plans in my holidays? It's a little bit ridiculous. I studied for my tests this week. I wanted to write! I am being prejudiced.

This is totally unfair to the students that are actually committed to going to class and studying countless ours for tests,then these students are punished by not receiving well deserved time off!!!!!!!!

As full fee paying parent I feel the university has failed to deal with the protesters in an efficient manner. Simple cancelling recess is not a solution, it's a cop out! Do what I pay you to do.

This is ridiculous, they can't take our recess away from us. So many plans have been made, expenses incurred, flights booked etc.

Already financially committed to my holiday plans.

I believe that it is completely unfair for the university to take away our study break. It's most people's only chance to have the time to sit down and study for the exams. Also, what happens to people who have saved money to book flights at this specific time? Rather take a week off of the longest holiday of the year (December -January) ?

This is a great inconvenience, not only academically, but in many aspects of students' lives
