The incidence of Lyme disease is up 60% in Nova Scotia. This is a very very serious health problem. Undetected and undiagnosed, Lyme disease causes multiple problems and makes people dependent on the health system for life. We can prevent this so easily with this clothing.

I think it very short-sighted of our Government policy via the Pesticide Management Regulatory Agency to not allow permethrin-treated clothing to be sold in Canada. In view of the fact that people bitten by the ticks carrying lyme disease unless treated almost immediately, often not being diagnosed correctly, face a very dibilitating and sometimes crippling effects. This means a life of misery when for a chance to prevent the exposure to those bites, we could feel more secure about not exposing our skin to this risk.

Having treated clothing when out in nature in the spring wouldb be much more relaxing.

The worst thing about this situation is not knowing the reason why our children can not be protected. Consider the alternative... oiur
